Living in Buenos Aires

So you want to move to Buenos Aires but you hardly know anything about the city? That was my situation last August when I moved from California to Argentina. Buenos Aires is a pretty amazing city but it is huge and it took me a long time to learn my way around. Fortunately there are [...]

Night of the Museums

Out of all the cities I’ve ever been too, I think Buenos Aires has the most museums. “La Noche de los Museos” was last weekend and it was amazing. At first it was a bit overwhelming because there were 262 participating museums and I didn’t know where to go. We started off with the Carlos [...]

Antares Scotch Ale

I love scotch and I love ale. When I saw there is a beer called “scotch ale” I had to try it. Antares is one of the few good breweries in Buenos Aires, and it turns out they make some rather good beer.

Teatro Colón

Today there was a free concert at Teatro Colón. Teatro Colón is regarded as one of the premier concert halls in the world and was just recently re-opened after years of renovation. The music was superb, the Teatro is amazing, and it was a very enjoyable experience. Just remember to wear pants if you want [...]

Puerto Madero

I had to do some studying for my final Spanish exam so I went to Puerto Madero. Puerto Madero is the newest bario of Buenos Aires and perhaps the most expensive. I got there as the sun was setting, and the lighting was too good for studying.

Pizza!

Argentina is probably best known for its beef, but here you can also find some of the best pizzas in the world. I like eating pizza at restaurants, but I also like to cook at home sometimes. There are a lot of pre-made crusts in the supermarkets so I bought one and threw on some [...]

Recoleta Cemetary

After almost two months in Buenos Aires I finally made it to Recoleta. I went to the cultural center, the museum of art, and had a beer and lunch at one of the few Buenos Aires brew pubs. But for me, the highlight of Recoleta was the cemetery. I’ve never seen a cemetery quite like [...]

Buenos Aires from Above

I went to a Germany/Argentina conference on the top floor of the Goethe building. They had really good coffee, medialunas, and apple torta. The view was pretty awesome as well. It was the first time I saw the city from a high viewpoint.
