When I found out that St Jacobi has guided tours of the organ every Thursday I had to check it out. The tour that I participated in had a larger than usual turnout of around 20 to 30 people and it lasted a little over an hour. I loved the tour because our guide was [...]  With the clouds, rain, and cold wind it may not seem like summer in Hamburg, but that doesn’t stop the annual “organ summer” concerts at St. Jacobi and St. Peter’s. I like organ and I used to play for my church when I was a kid, so I went to see Ernst-Ulrich von Kameke play [...] This year I have had pretty good luck being in the right place at the right time. The international tango competition in Buenos Aires, new years eve in Sydney, Songkran in Bangkok, and now La Fête Nationale (Bastille Day) in Paris. It’s amazing because I didn’t really plan any of these events specifically; they just [...] Travemünde sounds to me like Travel mundo, and that’s exactly what I have been doing in the last year! A few friends stopped by Hamburg and we went on a Hamburg harbor tour, visited the Hamburg flea and fish markets, and then took a train north east to Travemünde and the sea. Check out the [...] Last weekend I visited Leeuwarden and Harlingen in the Netherlands. I love the little brick buildings with huge windows and the canals filled with boats. Check out the pictures… Seven years ago my girlfriend spent a year in Auroville, India and it seemed to have a pretty big impact on her life. I knew that one day I would go there with her to meet her friends and share some new experiences with her. We went to stay with a friends family in Phetchaburi province for the week of Songkran and it was really nice. We visited the Cha Am and Hua Hin beaches as well as the three palaces: Maruekhathaiyawan beach side palace, hilltop Khao Wang, and European style [...] Where am I now? Singapore!! Why? Because I can! Really though, I got a cheap ticket. It was zero dollars before tax. I never thought I’d be in Singapore but now that I am here I am learning a lot of astounding facts. For example, Singapore is an island city of six million people yet [...] I celebrated Chinese New Year in Bangkok’s China Town with some friends. It was a little confusing and we didn’t really know what was going on so we spent 5 or 6 hours waiting on the street for a parade that never came. Supposedly there was a big show somewhere with dragons, dancers and more, [...] I had to do some studying for my final Spanish exam so I went to Puerto Madero. Puerto Madero is the newest bario of Buenos Aires and perhaps the most expensive. I got there as the sun was setting, and the lighting was too good for studying. |
