Fate conspired to bring John, Sean, Ryan, and me together almost a year after our last Donner Summit Expedition. Unfortunately our good friends Chris and Will were absent, but that [...]  This Fourth of July weekend was the most exhausting and most challenging weekends of my life. Will and I went to Lovers Leap to meet our friends Sean, Ryan, and Mike for three days of intense climbing, intense hiking, and intense traffic. Photos [...] I got together with some of my friends for some bachelor party climbing at Donner Summit. On the drive up we got a little scared when it started pouring rain in Sacramento on Friday, but Saturday turned out to be a perfect day for climbing. We were planning on climbing the Snowshed Wall, but there [...] Today was definitely a blog worthy (indoor) climbing day. Will and I tried our first 5.11a lead, and we got about 1/3 up our first 5.12b top rope. Our friend Christina also broke past her previous 5.9 limit and did not just one, but three 5.10a climbs. It’s encouraging to find that the 10ds and [...] Will already wrote up our latest trip, and I’m a little busy at the moment, so here’s his narration [with some comments from me]: We hiked in to camp Saturday morning and setup our tents, then went back out to Goat Rock. We were, perhaps, a litttttttle too ambitious at Goat Rock at first. [...] Just getting ready for another Castle Rock expedition. The plan is to climb Saturday, camp Saturday night, and then climb again Sunday! Here’s a picture of my gear pile. The new pieces are my REI Galaxy pack and my Alps Mountaineering 20 degree mummy bag (about $50 each from the REI clearance sale!). Also [...] I went up to Lovers Leap in the South Lake Tahoe area for some camping and my first multi-pitch climb. My henchman, Mr. Falknor, and I climbed the two classic beginner climbs on Hogsback: Knapsack Crack and Deception.
