Islay Scotland

Scotland is one of my favorite places in the world. Islay is one of my favorite places in Scotland. To get there you have to drive a few hours from Edinburgh and then ride a ferry for a few hours. When you arrive, it is just magical, with great people, green fields, wild coasts and clear seas. We stayed at an Airbnb with no internet. This is a place where social media, FOMO, and all the noise is forgotten. Our main activities on Islay were exploring and drinking whisky. We stayed in Port Ellen, where you can walk one mile along the coast to the Laphroaig distillery, another mile to the Lagavulin distillery, and then another to Ardbeg. We loved all three of these distilleries, and we also visited Bruichladdich to sample some of their Octomore. There are eight active distilleries on Islay, plus Port Ellen which is re-opening and a new one that is being built, so I’ll have to go back to try the others.
