Edinburgh is another one of my favorite European cities. It’s not too big to be overwhelming, but there’s still plenty to see. We checked out the castle and the writers museum for a little Scottish culture. The Scottish history exhibit with the crown jewels was my highlight. It’s a very nicely arranged exhibit with great lighting and interesting stories. The crown jewels are impressive to see, but I found the royal Scottish stone to be the coolest part. The ancient kings of Scotland were always crowned on the stone even before they had crowns.
We also did a few tourist activities like walking the royal mile, eating fish and chips, shopping for tweed, visiting Grayfriars Bobby, and trying a deep fried Mars bar (yum!!). We also enjoyed the views of the city from a nice walk up Arthur’s Seat, a big hill next to the city. We only had a few days which wasn’t really enough time to see everything, but that’s good because that means we have to go back someday to experience more of this fun and beautiful city!
